Center for Aerosol Science and Technology (CAST)

Center for Aerosol Science and Technology at the University of Miami is a group of faculty, students, and affiliates within the department of Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering; the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Sciences, and Miller School of Medicine. In addition, collaborations with several partners in National Laboratories (such as NOAA, NASA, USEPA, and others), other universities, and corporations dispersed across the globe. CAST is a center of excellence at the University of Miami with activities including extensive collaborative research with shared instrumentation facilities, education through coordinated coursework and workshops, seminars and discussion groups, and social networking events.

The main goals are to perform and disseminate cutting-edge research while training and graduating the next generation of world-leading scientists. The following activities (but not limited to) are promoted by CAST:

  • Collaborative Research;
  • Offering of Coursework (for University of Miami students, and outreach through several short courses);
  • Workshops;
  • Leadership roles in National and International Aerosol Communities; and
  • Acquiring and managing shared research instrumentation and facilities
